Changes to What's On July 2011

Events functionality update

July 2011

So we’ve been working hard to make improvements to the Events system across the Albow network. Some of the changes will only seem very small. I’ve highlighted them here to give you a sense of what to expect when you next submit an event.

albow events functionality update july 2011

1 We’ve included two extra fields in the submission form. The first is a prefix field where you can write By or Written by, or Presented by etc. The second is an auto-complete field. If you start writing the name of someone or a company that has an existing profile anywhere on the albow network (my example here is Tom Wainwright) then the system will link to their profile, if they don’t have a profile it will just show as non-clickable text

2 We’ve moved The Venue title to the top and this links to the profile of the the venue

3 We’ve included a free text field so that you can add brief performance info here such as I’ve done here for matinees.

4. Our biggest change is that you can now create a listing (my example is This Is A Fictional Event) and create as many event instances of that listing as you like.

So if you want to add touring dates for a show then you don’t have to keep adding the same information. Or if your event happens every Tuesday that’s easy now too. This also means that a UK tour of a show will show up across the network on the other sites even if you’ve uploaded it on your local site. It will also show up in the Also showing at list at the bottom of the event even if you’re touring outside the localities currently in the albow network.
