International Small Scene Theatre Festival
JoakimInterFest will be the 7th till the 15th of October in the Knjaževsko–srpski teatar from City of Kragujevac.
The Festival is named after Joakim Vujic (1772-1847), First Serbian Court Theater Director in Kragujevac 1835/36.
Knjaževsko-srpski teatar the regular host of Festival, organizer is the Direction of Festival and sponsor City of Kragujevac.
Knjaževsko–srpski teatar being the institution of special significance to Serbian culture and art, the Theatre endeavours to develop other activities besides showing plays. Since 2005 the Theatre started grandiose publishing business with the magazine Joakim, founded the Gallery Joakim, ordered monographies of all the winners of the Statuette of Joakim Vujic, 2009 published the first edition book Premijera, started to research and publish drama heritage of Kragujevac. Plays are shown on Stage Joakim Vujic and Stage Ljuba Tadic, Theatreteque is also active, and from February 2007, will start to work the Stage Mija Aleksic. That is the reason why Kragujevac should bear the name of Teatropolis, which was proclaimed in 2005, on the 170th anniversary of foundation of the oldest theatre in renewed Serbia.
In 1965 this theatre also initiated Meetings of professional Theatres Joakim Vujic of Serbia (in central Serbia) and they were held every year in May in one of ten different towns, until 2003. Since 2004, the Theatre became the regular host of JoakimFest and since October 2006, also of the JoakimInterFest, The International Small Scene Theatre Festival.
First International Small Scene Theatre Festival was held in Kragujevac at Knjaževsko–srpski teatar, First in Serbian Court Theater, from October 7th to 14th, 2006. During the Festival 13 performances from 6 countries were presented (England, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia) and the jury decided that the best play was Galefyrsten writen by Hening Mankell, performed by Little Theater Dusko Radovic from Belgrade, produced by Marc van der Valden.
JoakimInterFest they are members of two European organizations New European Theatre Action NETA and World Theatre Network InterAct.
FIVE YEARS OF JOAKIMINTERFEST
Proclaiming the idea Kragujevac Teatropolis, Knjazevsko-srpski theatre and Direction of JoakimFest, iniciated foundation of JoakimInterFest (International Small Scene Theatre Festival) in 2006, with the idea to represent every year some of the essential theatrical values connected with research and inovative tematic.
JoakimInterFest is held every year from October 7th to 15th on scenes of Knjazevsko-srpski Theatre and other places in Kragujevac Teatropolis. Selector of the festival is Dragan Jakovljevic.
At the previous Festivals (including the fifth one coming) participated theatres from 19 countries (Russia, USA, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbian Republic Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine and Canada) and was performed 61 play.
In a very short time JoakimInterFest becomes Festival of a special meaning for Serbia, and according to number of participants from world theatrical centers one of the prestigious Festivals in central Europe.
Sponsors of Festival are Ministry of Culture Republic of Serbia and the City of Kragujevac.

At the Festival participate theatrical performances from Uzice, Kraljevo, Nis, Krusevac and Kragujevac. Accompanying programme: Theatre from Krusevac, the play Death and The Dervish, written by Mesa Selimovic and directed by Nebojsa Bradic.
