ARTEMIS THEATRE ACTORS’ COMPANY (Bournemouth) seeks urgent casting for the part of SERGEANT MATCH for the production of Joe Orton’s celebrated farce WHAT THE BUTLER SAW. This is due to the unavoidable departure of the original cast member. ARTEMIS have already performed WHAT THE BUTLER SAW earlier this year to much critical acclaim and wish to repeat this success in a second run of two shows scheduled for the 22nd and the 26th of September in Bournemouth. Despite this short notice ARTEMIS are confident that the right individual will be found to pick up the challenge. SERGEANT MATCH is called to eminent psychiatrist DR PRENTICES clinic to arrest a bell boy and confidence trickster for indecent behaviour and becomes embroiled in a chain of events which include mistaken identity, cross dressing, psychiatric committal and attempted murder. All performed at break neck speed with deft comic delivery. AGE RANGE IS FLEXIBLE. The right actor can be aged between late 20s to early forties and must be prepared to cross dress and perform semi nude. The right individual will be required to come on board at short notice and agree to an intense rehearsal schedule to prepare for the first performance on the 22nd of September. Experience in playing SERGEANT MATCH and/or familiarity with the play will be highly advantageous. A professional attitude, comic timing and an ability to perform physical comedy will be essential for this role. Bournemouth based actors would be preferable but actors from all regions are encouraged to apply. All cast members will be entitled to a profit-share scheme after the final performance.
