METRO-BOULOT-DODO are looking for dynamic performers for their latest project ‘Whispers From a Rickshaw’ which will tour to some of the most prestigious street arts festivals across the UK. MBD are looking for performers who are happy to cycle a rickshaw, have an interest in Chinese culture and are intrigued to create an intimate performance piece for just two people at a time. 

Project description:
Whispers From a Rickshaw is a mobile, cycle powered rickshaw experience driven by a performer. The performer will greet audience members and start off the experience with a brief monologue and playing a short game of choice and chance with them to determine what track they listen to as they are cycled on a pre-set route for 5 minutes. After each cycle tour, the performer will conclude the experience with another short monologue and then be ready to greet the next audience members. At each event the rickshaw will run continuously.

“Climb aboard the colourful chinese rickshaw and take a 5 minute ride whilst you play a game of choice and chance, secret pockets hide mystery objects that will lead you to your story. Don the headphones, and immerse yourself in a unique tale that weaves together journeys with destiny. Classical Chinese music, low-fi electronica, new technology and storytelling all intermingle to create a philosophical ride.” Metro-boulot-dodo are one of the UK's leading arts organisations and “Whispers From a Rickshaw” is an intimate experience that asks the essential question: Where are you going?

3 days during the week of the 17th May 2010
Fee: £300

Performance dates:
Fee: £150 per day
June 1, 5, 12, 25,26, 27 July 3, 4, 10,11, 13, 18, 24,25, 30,31
August 1, 8 September 11,12, 25
Events include Stockton International Riverside Festival, Greenwich & Docklands Festival, Derby Feste, Wirksworth Festival, Riverside Festival (Leicester), Hatch (Nottingham) and more!

Requirements:
- Confident verbal and physical performer with strong communication skills and good with the public
- Confident, fit and able cyclist
- Ideally a driving license, and willingness to drive a van to transport the rickshaw to events
- Current CRB check (preferable)
