Water's Not So Thick - Ustinov Script Factory

Script-in-hand rehearsed reading of a full-length play. Wednesday 22nd September "When you’re about to get married, the last thing you need is your mother trying to put off the woman you’ve fallen for. But for Rupert, his mother’s interference is about to get a whole lot worse…" This script-in-hand lunchtime reading is directed by Sita Calvert-Ennals and has been developed with the Ustinov’s writer development programme. Script in Hand performance at the Alma Tavern Theatre, 8-30 Fri 17 Sept 2010 (Dir Duncan Bonner). Shortlisted for Theatre West's autumn season. Stanley and Isobel are two strong-willed women in their 70s, living their dreams: sculpting in London and farming in Orkney. But both rely more than they realise on their nigglesome loved ones: a 59-year old accountant and a troll. When Isobel commissions a sculpture, to prevent her troll from inheriting her farm, she unwittingly unleashes his ingenuity for mischief. But there are some things even he hasn’t bargained for...

A 10-minute monologue (one of four) making up promenade event, Eddie King and the Death of Rave. Produced by Dark Stuff. August 2011 Venue magazine: "Gill Kirk’s ‘Passion’ was a splendidly fast, fevered monologue... [about] a sped-up, loved-up Scot for whom the rave was a place less of hedonism than of to-the-death love and solidarity with his fellow men."
