93 Springfield Road, Rowde, DevizesJules Hobbs and Richard Curnow are both professional actors with a combined total of over fifty years working in Theatre, Radio and Theatre in Education. During the last fourteen years they have visited literally hundreds of schools (primary, secondary and special) showing children as young as four how exciting Shakespeare can be. Most recently they have worked in a Peterborough primary school running a Residency week on The Tempest (the Residency culminated in the children’s own production of the play), and in Secondary schools in Northumbria, Birmingham and Portsmouth running interactive workshops for KS3 on Macbeth, Twelfth Night and Hamlet. A Teachers Pack is always provided. Jules and Richard also run INSET days or after-school sessions aimed at helping teachers to inspire students of all ages in the study of Shakespeare’s plays.
As well as the educational work FINDING THE WILL has its own show 'Bard Heads' which explores what may have happened next to characters in some of Shakespeare’s best loved plays (Hermia from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Malvolio from Twelfth Night, a Witch from Macbeth and Osric from Hamlet). Each performance consists of two fifty minute monologues (one male, one female) and each monologue is full of humour, pathos, sex, murder, mayhem and the whole gamut of human emotions. It is available as part of a workshop for KS4 or as a separate evening's entertainment.

Workshops on The Tempest for KS1 & KS2 in a Hants primary school
Working with KS3 in Birmingham, Northumbria and Portsmouth on Macbeth, Twelfth Night and Hamlet. Some students had no knowledge of the play at all, some had a little and some had a lot. We took them through each of the plays in an interactive manner including a 'Jeremy Kyle Show' and Group Direction.
2010 - Hamlet; 2011 - The Tempest 2012 - A Midsummer Night's Dream
All the children from Year 3 to Year 6 were involved throughout the week. Beginning with an interactive story-telling workshop on the Monday and culminating in the children's own production on Friday afternoon. All props, live music and costume came from them and confidence levels soared!
Jules Hobbs and Richard Curnow have developed a highly entertaining way of exploring Shakespeare’s plays, from the inside, through the eyes and ears of minor characters. Both actors co-founded the theatre company FINDINGTHE WILL. BARD HEADS is written and performed by them and consists of two 50-minute monologues.
In ‘The Whirligig of Time’ Malvolio has been on an anger management course and paces a tower overlooking the shores of IIlyria three months after the end of Twelfth Night. He takes you on a roller-coaster of emotions as he achieves his sworn revenge following his public humiliation over the yellow stockings. Meanwhile, Hermia (remember her from A Midsummer Night’s Dream) is having a mid-life crisis in her kitchen. ‘The Dust Behind The Door’ looks at life and love 20 years on from that strange night in Athens Wood. Is she still living the dream? ‘Call Me Oz’ sees Osric speaking out about Hamlet and the Elsinore massacre for the first time in thirty years in a series of celebrity interviews. And finally ‘The Third Witch From The Left’ follows the time travelling journey of one of the Weird Sisters. Now a successful cookery writer and astrologer can she ever forget that Scottish heath?
BARD HEADS is an electrifying piece of theatre creating a direct connection between the actor and the audience giving Shakespeare’s characters a new lease of life.
