Christmas Markets in Wiltshire 2017

Christmas markets in Wiltshire

It’s nearly the end of October – and that means Christmas is almost here! Whether you’re an Xmas fanatic or a bit of a Grinch (no offense intended!), you can’t deny that the sight of a Christmas market with mulled wine and other delights is welcome in the winter.

Here’s a brief run-down of the Christmas markets and other events running in Wiltshire this year.

Salisbury Christmas Market

As always, Salisbury is hosting the annual Christmas market which takes place in the Guildhall Square. With a variety of festive stalls set to a historic backdrop, we think it’s one of the best markets in the area (although we’re biased).

The Christmas market runs from the 23rd November to 22nd December this year. It opens at 10am everyday during that time, although the closing times vary throughout the week.

Tip: Try the mulled wine stand – it’s delicious!

Warminster Christmas Festival Of Lights

Once again, Longleat will host the largest display of Chinese lanterns from the 5th November to 2nd January. If you haven’t had a chance to see these lights yet, they are an amazing spectacle and well worth a visit.

There are also some new scenes this year, so even if you’ve been before you might want to plan another visit.

Traditional Father Christmas at Trowbridge

If you’re looking for a traditional father christmas experience for your children, the Trowbridge Town Hal is hosting one from the 25th November to 23rd December. The cost is £10 per child and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Every child will get the chance to hear a story from father christmas and go away with a gift. This is a wonderful experience for many children and well worth booking if possible.

Christmas Wreath Workshop at Upavon

For those that want to get creative over the christmas period My Flower Patch is hosting a workshop to show you how to create a wreath. You’ll make it using a combination of wire, moss and evergreen foliage, and have the chance to decorate it as you wish.

This is sure to be a fantastic experience that you don’t want to miss! There are a number of classes taking place in the lead-up to Christmas, but make sure you book early to avoid disappointment. You also don’t need any experience with art for this course, so it’s great for beginners and experienced craft-lovers alike.

Trowbridge Christmas Market

While the market at Trowbridge isn’t quite as big as Salisbury, it’s still a great way to get into the christmas spirit.

The market is only running for one day on the 25th November. The Christmas lights will also be turned on during this date, so an evening trip is well worth the effort.
