An invitation to Devoted & Disgruntled 2012 Roadshow

Hello

On Tuesday 17th July, Theatre Royal Plymouth will be the South West venue for Improbable Theatre’s Devoted & Disgruntled 2012 Roadshow, as part of the London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the four year Cultural Olympiad.

Devoted and Disgruntled is a free all-day event at TR2.   At a significant time for theatre and the performing arts in the UK, the Roadshow seeks to engage people in a nationwide conversation about the theatre. The event will be led by the highly regarded, award-winning artistic director of Improbable, Phelim McDermott, whose most recent credits include directing ‘The Enchanted Isle’ at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and also ‘The Devil & Mr Punch’ at the Barbican Theatre in London.

Devoted and Disgruntled is a chance to make theatre better. If you care about theatre, if you watch it, make it, organise it or wish it was different, then you are the right person to come along.

Is theatre in the South-West thriving ?

Are you satisfied with what’s on offer in Dorset, Devon, Cornwall & Somerset ?

Is there more that binds us than separates us ?

Do you feel cut off from the national scene ?

Is there enough opportunity to join in ?

What would you like to see in say Truro, Barnstaple, Exeter, Taunton, Torquay, Yeovil and Plymouth ?

Should there be more local performance and site-specific based work ?

Do the bigger theatre venues and companies get too much focus and resource ?

For more info please go to the D & D Improbable website where you can sign up for your free place. It will also include invites from myself and Phelim, which I’ve attached. http://www.devotedanddisgruntled.com/roadshow/ Adrian Vinken (the Chief Executive here) and I attended one last year and it turned out to be a very stimulating day with some exciting, surprising and thought-provoking conversations about our art form.

Your support and help in getting this information out to your contacts and encouraging a wide spread, interested and informed circle of people in the South West to attend, would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
