Arts Council England chief executive Alan Davey has estimated that ACE will fund 750 cultural organisations beyond 2012, 100 fewer than its current portfolio, when applications for the new National Portfolio funding streams closed ACE revealed that it had received approximately 1,340 bids

Speaking at an evidence session for the House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Davey estimated it would provide core funding to 750 of the applicants from April, 2012. This suggests around 600 organisations will be disappointed when ACE publishes its funding decisions on March 30.

Davey said that no organisations are immune from losing their funding adding that ACE has had conversations with the bigger and national organisations about what they are able to offer in the current financial climate.
