It is a disgrace the amount we waste in a theatre after a get out.
We throw so many productions into a skip because we have no storage or no real need to keep them. We are wasting huge amounts of good materials and with all our efforts to be green it's quite poor! With funding cuts and ever tighter budgets why do we continue to waste? Why don't we share it?
What if you were able to rummage in someone else's skip and find yourself a second hand show floor, an old masking flat to boost your stock or some scrap timber to build a new prop store, putting someone else's waste to good use?
The Set Exchange is a message board, where items of set, props, costumes, or anything that you can think of, can be posted and made available to the Theatre community, to re-home and re-use. It doesn't cost anything, it saves the planet and it could benefit us all.
